10 Things You CAN Take With You:

The best Innovations, I would think, would be those you can "take with you." In a good way.  You know what these are because you get a "6th sense" that these acts would pass muster with anybody you ever knew who cared about you and wanted to see you succeed as the best person you can be.  You feel a "good" you can take with you.  And others feel it, too.  This is my first 10-Things-You-CAN-Take-With-You Checklist.  I suspect this Checklist may change my Right Brain Aerobics work more than I bargained for. Give it a try... :)

Unexpected Results When Beginning Transformational Dialogues with Right Brain Start Up

Earlier this week I was hosting an evening of my Transformational Dialogues, an event discussing how to raise our adolescent girls as powerful women. As normally occurs, a crowd of 25 people or so hurriedly rush into the gathering space sometime between 5:55 and 6:05 for a six o'clock event starting time. My intention was for it to be an evening in which there could be a sense of safety and sacredness, where vulnerability and authenticity could emerge. Normally I begin the events with house announcements, like where are the restrooms, when is the next upcoming event, etc. Then we head directly into introductions and the event begins. This time I decided to do something different. After the instructions for the evening were given, I asked their permission to do a little exercise with me to help quiet the chaotic arrival energy. I then led the group in a Right Brain Start-Up* exercise from Right Brain Aerobics... …

Whole Brain Organizations: Pulling for Creative Genius at All Levels?

9-20-12

"Want to inspire your staff?  Let them help solve the company's biggest problems."  From 30 Second MBA, Fast Company, John Landgraf, Pres. & GM, FX Networks

By Sandra H. Rodman - @SHRodman on Twitter

For new solutions we need: New landscapes of solvers.  What we're finding in Right Brain Aerobics pilots is that when you initiate a "pull" for creative/innovative genius it's there.  It's there at much greater levels of insight than you expect, and it's there at every level of every organization or network of colleagues.

That's a new landscape for problem solving in every organization -- but "Step 1" is: We must engage the "right brain" as well as the left, in every role.

3 Qualities of Right Brain Leadership

8-14-12 -- By Sandra H. Rodman, Creator, Right Brain Aerobics

Qualities of “right brain” leadership might be different, since "leadership" is often thought of as hierarchical, and “right brain” is thought of as more collaborative, cooperative, and creative. As we already have highly developed “left brain skills” in our societies, then developing right brain leadership skills might mean more "balanced" leadership -- or Whole Brain Leadership. Here are 3 Qualities for “Right Brain Leadership" as Food for Thought. (If you want to know more about how Right Brain Aerobics looks at what is “left brain” and what is “right brain” look at Introduction to Right Brain Thinking.  Dan Pink transformed the 80's term "Right Brain" into a modern business concept with his book "A Whole New Mind: Why Right Brainers Will Rule the Future."

Classes & TeleClasses -- @SHRodman

Use Right Brain Sound to Inspire Higher Intelligence...

The power of deeply creative sound can spark a wave of creative intuition riding its crest, moving aside cobwebs and mental road blocks on the most tense and stressful days...days in which everything is riding on the outcome and we want to reach for higher planes of thought.  Moments of deep self reflection in such soothing or inspiring sound can become peak engagements with the brilliance of a higher self, a higher intelligence sometimes lost in "to do" lists.  But always nearby -- waiting for a call...  All Right Brain Aerobics classes use such sound and it is integral in the process of daily practice.

Right Brain Exercises: Can Futurethink Impact Our Careers?

Right Brain Exercises in Futurethink -- Futurethink and Our Careers

1. An interesting research article recently suggested that "Our Brains Shrinking. Are We Getting Dumber?"  Whatever the reason,  greater awareness and brain exercises, stretching our minds to consider the future, may be imperative in future careers.

First, read this article from the NY Times series, "Your Brain on Computers" -- "Attached to Technology and Paying a Mental Price"  -- suggests that our all-day focus on our small screen mobile communication may be affecting relationships, thinking, distracted, unfocused minds.

Where's the course on "reinvention?  Will we develop New Expertise from the Dept. of Unintended Consequences?  "Going Back to the Drawing Board 101" with Hindsight -- and Futuresight -- for Quantum Leaps in Reinvention?  If you read this -- and do the point-by-point exercise...there could be millions in dollars and new career networks springing to mind where before you weren't looking...

Thinking Challenge: Are a Society's Values Reflected in Its Technology? Can We Reinvent?

Creative Thinking Will Be Sparked as We Reinvent Societies & Technologies.  Plus: A Right Brain Long-Range Career Exercise -- that could change your life.

Are a Society's Values Reflected in Its Technology?  That is its legacy. And also a clue to the unanticipated vista of new opportunities for new minds. With global challenges, many are looking again at how we are creating our societies - and seeing that it is time for "reinvention" of our technology paradigms as well?  Each reflects our values...  Time for "Stereophonic Braining"...

What Happens When We're Not in Our Right Minds...Yet!

"Begin as if you will finish. Let the story be told that you had the courage to begin." -- Mary Anne Radmacher
We seem to think we're in a creativity-and-innovation crisis because that's what we read.  You'd think we were inventing nothing new.  This depends a lot on where you sit in the Timeline of Human History and whether or not you're from this Planet...

Herstorians/Historians of 4012 might think we had a crisis of a different kind:  TOO MUCH creativity and innovation of non-biodegradable, non-organic, non-repurposeful plastic-electronic, mind-shrinking junk toys for landfills.  Those from another planet visiting might say to us:  "What were you thinking?#!?" as we try to export our New-Model Model of Garbage Landfill Business to the Moon and Mars.

While we might say to ourselves, Yes, Well, it IS too bad that we trashed the planet with trash, but what was I to do?  I have to communicate!  And I can't do it without the new Model 27! I'll be offline.  Out of business!  But those in 4012, they might wish we had shipped our creativity to the Moon instead of our garbage!

But wait: Isn't this then, the greatest opportunity we've had yet?  To look at how to create more "right brain" technology in a new way -- using right brain thinking which is more than creativity; it is long-range thinking, collaborative and cooperative, intuitive and compassionate "big picture thinking," seeing the whole, pattern recognition at higher levels of intelligence.  Perhaps this is a turning-point- time in technology and industrialization.  We've got to come up with something besides a new model that's obsolete in a week.  Let's earn the admiration from citizens 100, 1000, 10,000 years from now - about how we were the ones who transformed a new-model-a-month technology into something new and transformed  "landfill planet" forever!

Can Modern Right Brain Languaging Transform Modern Careers?

Can Modern Right Brain Languaging Transform Modern Careers?
Or: We're not going to think new ideas in old language...

What if we added “Intuitive Business Intelligence” to a College MBA Curriculum?  Or “Practical Alpha State Mental Exercises for Managers”?  Sounds like intriguing courses – probably already in a curriculum somewhere.  Trendy.  21st Century.

“In 2009 the “Positive Psychology” course at Harvard University was the most oversubscribed course for all first-semester students.”  From "GrossNational Happiness: The Key to a More Inspired Future?" New Paradigm Digest.

But what if we scheduled “Paranormal Training for Managers”?  “Ghost Hunting Skills for Victorian Estate Realtors”?  Not so much.  We’re new thinkers.  Our left brains would start an alarm sequence track to Defcon 1.

Yet in the July 3, 2012 cover article for Psychology Today -- “The 6th Sense”– there is a surprising amount of esoteric, arcane reference in contexts that seem appropriate for decades ago.  Why? The language itself predicts the trivialization or irrelevance of discussing such skills – yet on other fronts from brain science to business training these are showing up regularly!  Especially since Dan Pink’s “A Whole New Mind: Why Right Brainers Will Rule the Future” began to open new doorways for global right brain dialogue in business.

7 Principles Applying Right Brain Thinking to Counseling and Understanding Self-Trust

By Thomas J. Rodman, C.A.D.C., M.A., Psychology of the Creative Process, New School for Social Research. Trainer and Therapist, Central DuPage Hospital, Chicago. See Guest Blogger Bio

Introduction -- S.H. Rodman

Tom Rodman has spent decades in innovative clinical programming in chemical dependency treatment. Here he provides insight regarding how a right brain approach introduces a different vocabulary for personal change and therapeutic relationships, specifically applying Right Brain Aerobics. The freeing of such right brain skills will likely come as we apply this kind of ability across disciplines daily, viewing ourselves and others differently as we use the brain differently. – S.H.R

7 Principles Applying Right Brain Thinking to Counseling and Understanding Self-Trust

  1. Nothing is irrelevant -- as the individual begins to honor and respect things that “pop up” that don’t follow logical sequences in their concentration.

  2. Right Brain Aerobics is, in itself, an exercise in renewed self-trust.  That which comes up is not the just relevant -- it is your discovery of how it’s relevant that it is important. You must begin to trust what your mind is revealing.

  3. New connections mean organic change.  My suspicion, at least, is that when you exercise these activities that something organically begins to happen in the wiring, so to speak, that is enhanced -- and actual physical change may be taking place.

First:  If you want to see the June Introductory Blog for this series on Right Brain Thinking, see ARCHIVE, lower right column for "The Coming Age of the Right Brain" -- and "It's Not about Left Brain / RIght Brain Labels But Rapid Development of Multidimensional Intelligence"

Right brain thinking emerges from simple, but surprisingly powerful steps. Right brain exercise techniques are most often “stress reduction techniques” as well.  What is surprising is the number of “ah hah” moments – inner genius that suddenly appears when you shift to right brain mode, taking a “time out from the left brain.”  This can mean surprising new ideas – even for tough business and personal problems -- when you start accessing right brain states.  Discovery in non-linear action. So here are 3 simple ways to shift your mental/conscious awareness and life-skills terrain, and you also improve health and happiness. Try this for 3 days and watch what happens…!

It's Not about Left Brain / Right Brain Labels But Rapid Development of Multidimensional Intelligence

Blog + Tips

In Right Brain Aerobics sessions, accountants and physicists were stars. Often the individual who begins a class by saying: "I'm not right brain..." -- comes up with the mind-bending concept-of-the-day. Managers and producers who do not pull for new ideas from everyone (ignoring right brain and left brain labels), who assume that creative insight and intuitive genius are everywhere, can accelerate unexpected results. They can retain teams of inspired thinkers by assuming they're everywhere!  And of any age.

Welcome!  A Revolution in thinking and perception is at hand.  We're not Computers!

What surprised me was that
a. you could begin such a profoundly different way of using the brain at any age
b. and that there was such a depth of the difference when applying it to business or career.
There is more here than meets the eye.

Real Expansion of Practical Right Brain Ability Changes Everything...

The significant increase in my right brain exercise and the resulting create "output" (some seemed truly "impossible" to me) -- was shocking!  Yet my career for decades WAS based on my innovative ideas, creativity, and strategic thinking. Yeah, this is different.  This is a WHOLE OTHER brain/mind -- I just didn't know it was resident and natural with practice and with more:  APPLICATION TO WORK!  Applying the right brain to work using modern right brain exercises/techniques stretches it's ability further all the time!  Who knew.
